Frequently asked questions
We know that dealing with pests can be stressful, and you likely have a lot of questions. We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions we receive about our process, safety, scheduling, and more. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, our friendly experts are just a phone call away and always ready to help
General questions
How quickly can you get someone out to my property?
We understand that pest problems can’t wait. We offer same-day and next-day emergency service for urgent issues. For standard inspections, we typically schedule within 24-48 hours. Give us a call, and we will find a time that works for you immediately.
Are the products you use safe for my children and pets?
Absolutely. The safety of your family is our top priority. We use products and methods that are approved by the EPA and applied by trained professionals. Many of our treatments are pet- and family-friendly once the application has dried, which usually takes just 30-60 minutes. Our technicians will provide specific safety instructions tailored to the treatment
Do I need to prepare my home before your visit?
For most services, minimal preparation is needed. However, to make the treatment as effective as possible, we may ask you to ensure countertops are clear, provide access to sinks and cabinets, and secure pets. For specific treatments like flea control, we will provide a detailed checklist. We will always confirm any preparation steps when you book your appointment.
Do you offer a guarantee on your services?
Yes, we stand behind our work 100%. All our services come with a comprehensive satisfaction guarantee. If the pests return between scheduled treatments, so will we—at no additional cost to you. Specific guarantee periods will be detailed in your service agreement.
Pest control
How often should I get routine pest control service?
For consistent protection against common pests like ants, spiders, and cockroaches, we recommend quarterly service (every 3 months). This seasonal approach allows us to proactively address different pest pressures throughout the year, creating a continuous barrier around your home.
Why do I still see pests after treatment?
This is a common concern! Many treatments are designed to eliminate the source of the problem (like nests and colonies), not just the pests you see. It’s normal to see some activity shortly after a treatment as pests are driven out by the products. This should subside quickly. If activity continues after a few days, we’ll return for a follow-up
What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?
IPM is a smart, effective, and environmentally sensitive approach we use that focuses on long-term prevention. It combines common-sense practices like sealing entry points (exclusion) and removing food sources with targeted, least-toxic treatments. It’s not just about spraying chemicals; it’s about solving the root cause.
Can't I just handle pests myself with store-bought products?
While DIY solutions can sometimes offer a temporary fix, they often fail to address the root of the infestation (like a hidden nest or queen). This can lead to a recurring cycle. Our professionals are trained to correctly identify the pest, locate the source, and use professional-grade products and techniques that provide a complete and lasting solution.
Termite control
How do I know if I have termites?
Tell-tale signs include discarded wings near windowsills, mud tubes on foundation walls (which they use to travel), and hollow-sounding or blistered wood. Since termites can cause significant structural damage often before they’re even detected, we recommend an annual professional inspection.
How can I prevent termites from invading my home?
The best defense is to eliminate conditions that attract them. Ensure soil and mulch are not in contact with your home’s wooden siding, fix leaking faucets and downspouts that create moisture, store firewood away from your foundation, and schedule annual professional inspections to catch any activity early.
How long does a termite treatment take, and how long does it last?
The initial treatment itself is typically completed in one day. The materials we use for liquid soil treatments are designed to form a long-lasting barrier protecting your home for years. We provide a renewable warranty, which includes annual inspections to ensure your home remains protected.
Is a tent (fumigation) the only way to treat termites?
No, fumigation is only for specific, severe drywood termite infestations. The most common method for subterranean termites is a liquid termiticide applied to the soil around and beneath the structure, creating a protective barrier. We also offer advanced baiting systems. We will recommend the most effective, targeted solution for your specific situation
Cockroach Control
Are cockroaches a health risk?
Yes. Cockroaches are known to spread bacteria, contaminate food, and trigger allergies and asthma attacks, especially in children. Their shed skin and droppings are common allergens. A professional-grade treatment is crucial to eliminate this health hazard from your home.
I see a cockroach at night, but never during the day. Is my infestation small?
Unfortunately, no. Cockroaches are nocturnal. Seeing even one, especially during the day, can often indicate a larger, hidden infestation. They are experts at hiding in cracks, behind appliances, and within walls. A professional inspection is key to assessing the true scope of the problem.
Why do cockroaches keep coming back after I spray?
Store-bought sprays often only kill the roaches you see, missing hidden nests and egg cases (oothecae). These eggs can hatch later, restarting the cycle. Our treatments use a combination of gels, baits, and growth regulators that are carried back to the nest, effectively eliminating the entire population, including eggs.
How can I prevent a cockroach problem?
The key is to eliminate their access to food, water, and shelter. Keep your kitchen impeccably clean, store food in sealed containers, fix leaky pipes, take out the trash regularly, and seal cracks and crevices around cabinets, baseboards, and plumbing. We can help identify and seal these entry points during our service.
Rats & Mice Control
How quickly can you get rid of rats or mice?
Using a strategic combination of traps and baits, we typically see a significant reduction in activity within a few days. However, complete elimination and, most importantly, proofing your home against future entry (exclusion work) is a process that may take a couple of weeks to ensure the problem is solved for good.
Why are traps alone not solving my rodent problem?
Traps address individual rodents but not the root of the issue: entry points and attractants. If you don’t seal up the house, more rodents will simply move in. Our approach is comprehensive: we trap the existing population, identify and seal all potential entry points, and advise on removing attractants from your property.
I found a dead mouse smell. What can I do?
The smell is unpleasant but will fade on its own as the body decomposes. To help, locate the source if possible (while wearing protective gloves), ventilate the area, and use odor-absorbing products like baking soda. In severe cases, we offer sanitization and deodorization services to help eliminate the odor.
How are rodents getting into my house?
Mice can squeeze through a hole the size of a dime, and rats through a hole the size of a quarter. They commonly enter through gaps in utility lines, cracks in the foundation, damaged roof vents, or gaps under doors. Our service includes a thorough inspection to identify and seal these entry points—a critical step called “exclusion.
Silverfish Control
Why do I have silverfish and are they harmful?
Silverfish are attracted to damp, humid areas with starchy food sources like paper, glue, cardboard, and clothing. While they don’t pose a direct health risk to humans or spread disease, they can damage books, wallpaper, and stored items. Treatment focuses on reducing humidity and eliminating their food sources.
What attracts silverfish to my bathroom and basement?
These areas typically have the high humidity levels that silverfish crave. They thrive in environments with 75-95% humidity. Leaky pipes, poor ventilation, and damp storage boxes provide the perfect combination of moisture and food for them to survive.
How can I get rid of silverfish without using harsh chemicals?
The most effective non-chemical method is to dehumidify. Using a dehumidifier to keep humidity levels below 50%, improving ventilation, and fixing leaks will make your home far less inviting. Additionally, store important papers, books, and clothing in sealed plastic bins instead of cardboard boxes.
